Are you a seasoned professional looking for a challenging role in cost management?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Cost Management Specialist to join our team at UGL, working on the CopperString 2032 Project. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our projects are delivered efficiently and within budget.

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly experienced cost management professional with a proven track record in leading teams and delivering large-scale projects.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of cost management strategies, including estimates, cost controls, and budgeting.
  • You will work closely with our project managers, procurement, commercial, legal, and finance teams to ensure best-in-class outcomes for our projects.
  • You will prepare and present detailed cost reports and forecasts to stakeholders, highlighting variances between actual and budgeted costs.
  • You will analyse project specifications to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
  • You will collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate contracts with suppliers and contractors, ensuring favourable terms and adherence to project budgets.
  • You will assess financial risks associated with project decisions and propose mitigation strategies to manage potential cost overruns.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or relevant trade qualification and demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience working in a similar role within the construction, mining, or resource industry.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of cost control processes, capital estimates, and project forecasting.
  • Knowledge and application of cost control principles.
  • Experience in reviewing cost forecasts considering expenditure to date and construction programs.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP, CMS, or other ERMS is highly regarded.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
