Our organization seeks a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to lead our Health & Safety team in support of the Portsmouth Water AMP8 framework. As a key leader, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety strategies to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all employees.
In this critical role, you will oversee the creation, review, and continuous improvement of health and safety policies and procedures, as well as direct the planning and execution of risk assessments. You will also manage and coordinate routine workplace inspections and internal safety audits, monitor performance, and track corrective actions.
Additionally, you will design and deliver contract-wide health and safety training initiatives, conduct root cause analyses of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and lead investigations to identify lessons learned. You will stay abreast of all relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and industry trends, ensuring full compliance and supporting our organization in dealings with external regulatory bodies.
You will maintain and oversee accurate documentation of safety records, including risk assessments, training records, audits, inspections, and incident reports, and produce regular reports for internal stakeholders and leadership tiers. You will also lead and support the Health & Safety team, providing mentorship, developing capabilities, and ensuring consistent performance and professional standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications- NEBOSH Construction certificate
- 5 years demonstratable experience within the Groundworks – Water industry, 3 years in a leadership role
- Award in education and training level 3 (AET) or equivalent training qualification
- Full Clean driving licence
- NRSWA Supervisor
- EUSR Cat 1&2
- EUSR 3,4 & 5 or equivalent Excavation and support systems
- National Water Hygiene
