
Aboriginal Health Program Coordinator

This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation and coordination of health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis in Aboriginal communities.
- The position involves delivering key priorities outlined in local, state and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C and hepatitis B.
- To support culturally safe, community led approaches to program design and delivery, the role focuses on building collaborative relationships between health services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other sectors that work with Aboriginal communities.
- Develop and implement health promotion programs for Aboriginal communities, leveraging partnerships and resources effectively.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including Aboriginal-led organisations and other sectors, to ensure effective collaboration and outcomes.
- Design and deliver training and education sessions on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis prevention, testing and treatment, tailored to community needs.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, bringing cultural insight and understanding to the role.
- Hold relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or have experience as a health worker/promotion/project worker in the government or non-government sector.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current HIV, sexual health, and hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment, as well as understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, particularly young people.
- Demonstrate ability to initiate, develop, deliver, evaluate, and report on health-related projects, managing competing interests and deadlines effectively.
- Proven experience in identifying, negotiating, and building effective partnerships with key Aboriginal stakeholders, driving positive outcomes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision to deliver agreed outcomes.
- High-level organisational and communication skills, prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Current NSW driver's license and willingness to travel, with flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements.
