Firefighting Role Overview

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is responsible for ensuring public safety and property protection across Queensland.

Purpose of the Position

This agency delivers high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single entity.

Key Competencies Required
  • Employer's consent to participate in emergencies (where applicable)
  • Residency or work location within a reasonable distance of a firefighting station
  • Australian Permanent Resident Status
  • Manual C Class driver's license
Primary Responsibilities
  1. Respond to fire and emergency incidents as part of a team, adhering to pre-operational ARTEP standards (FFGC085).
  2. Contribute to community education activities promoting public safety and emergency preparedness.
  3. Develop competencies by participating in regular drills, training courses, and maintaining required attendance standards.
  4. Operate specialized firefighting equipment safely and effectively.
  5. Assist with maintenance, upkeep, and hygiene of station facilities.
  6. Maintain operational equipment and repair station facilities as needed.
  7. Support incident reporting and general station administration tasks.
  8. Uphold positive teamwork in all work activities and adhere to organizational health principles.
  9. Communicate effectively with QFES personnel and the general community.
  10. Contribute to a safe working environment by following health procedures.
