This opportunity involves working directly for a pre-eminent insurance practitioner who has a strong focus on innovation, team culture, and the personal development of all staff. The team advises on complex and high-profile matters, including litigation arising from the Royal Commission, significant D&O multi-party proceedings, and professional indemnity matters for professionals across various industries.
The role will involve working with other members of the team, including Senior Associates and Special Counsel, to handle complex financial lines, professional indemnity, class actions, and director and officers (D&O) matters from a defence and coverage perspective.
The role will also involve assisting one of the senior lawyers in relation to construction and engineering professional indemnity disputes, as well as some commercial litigation matters. This is a strong area of growth for our business, with clients including large insurers, Lloyd's syndicates, and their insureds.
As a member of our team, you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters and will have the autonomy to drive and make a significant contribution to the matter outcome. You will also be encouraged to foster and generate client relationships and will have the opportunity to engage in business development frequently.
Key Skills & Experience- General insurance litigation, financial lines, professional indemnity (especially with a focus on construction and engineering claims), and director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred but not essential.
- You may also have a general commercial litigation background, construction litigation background, and be interested in insurance.
- Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
