
Home Support Assistant

The primary function of this role is to provide direct client care and support within established standards of care, policies, and procedures. This involves meeting the needs and supporting independence in a home environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Respect and promote client independence, dignity, privacy, and lifestyle at all times.
- Support clients' independence in activities of daily living as assessed by the Case Coordinator.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety and sanitation standards, including guidelines for hand washing. Report any concerns or skill deficits to the Supervisor.
- Assist with meal preparation according to dietary guidelines.
- Organize work based on client needs and assigned service requests.
- Report any changes in client status or home environment to the Supervisor and/or Case Coordinator as required.
- Report incidents immediately to the Supervisor, Case Coordinator, and/or client contact, documenting them in the Incident Reporting System as necessary.
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
- Other suitable education and experience combinations may be considered.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent from the province of residence, along with access to a personal vehicle for providing services within Prairie Mountain Health.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and internet applications, as well as other information technology.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in techniques and procedures in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge and competence in skills and concepts related to the position.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect cultural diversity.
- Ability to perform job duties regularly and work effectively with colleagues, clients, and the interdisciplinary team.
