Job Description

Our hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gastroenterologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing patients with general gastroenterology, chronic liver disease, IBD, and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing specialist treatment and care of patients in Gastroenterology. They will also undertake procedures as required in the Department of Gastroenterology, arrange onward referrals of patients for medical services not available locally, and liaise with specialist colleagues as necessary for the care of hospital patients.

Additionally, the candidate will participate in support and teaching programs for nursing and medical staff, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will also actively participate in Gastroenterology research.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential requirements for this role include:

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Substantially comparable outcome by the RACP
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Sound knowledge of current specialty practice in Gastroenterology
  • Recent practice in an acute hospital setting
  • Ability to work a 24/7 shift-work roster which will include some nights, public holidays, and weekends
