What you'll be doing
- The position of the RAMHP Coordinator is to raise awareness of, and help address, the short and long term mental health needs of people in Far West Local Health District resulting from or preparing for rural adversity.
- The primary aim of the RAMHP Coordinator is to identify communities and individuals who live in rural and remote NSW experiencing or at risk of developing signs and symptoms of mental illness or distress and develop pathways to care so that they, and their families and carers, can be connected with services and programs.
- Provide information about mental illness and services and programs to the whole community and to targeted individuals to facilitate recognition of when an individual may need extra support for their mental health.
- Provide education services to targeted rural agencies and services that have contact with people experiencing adversity and build their capacity to respond and refer to appropriate services.
- Work in partnership with the mental health teams, clinicians, and their respective communities to improve mental health referral processes.
- The RAMHP Coordinator will be connected to inter-agencies and other networks as required.
- Work with and support the mental health and family and carer teams to ensure that patients, families, and carers are provided with the information they need to look after their own mental health.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in health, welfare, health promotion, or community development related field.
- High level of mental health literacy and demonstrated ability to discuss mental health issues with a variety of people.
- Demonstrated sound understanding of rural and agricultural issues, particularly as they relate to mental wellbeing and rural adversity.
- Demonstrated high level written and interpersonal communication skills with the proven capacity to negotiate, influence, and develop relationships with stakeholders and manage face-to-face communication with small or large audiences.
- Demonstrated high level organizational skills and competency in Microsoft computer applications.
- Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to NSW Ministry of Health Code of Conduct.
- Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes and evidence of a current Class C driver's license.
