Mathematics Leadership Position

The Mathematics Leadership position plays a pivotal role in the college, overseeing the provision of support for staff learning and student curriculum programs in mathematics.

This leadership role requires providing guidance, direction, and support to the college community, teaching staff, and management about programs and practices for their team. In liaison with the College's Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan, the Numeracy/Mathematics Leader will lead and manage the provision of support for staff learning and student curriculum programs within the College.

Key responsibilities include coordinating, managing, and monitoring the provision of various programs supporting numeracy and mathematics in the College. An emphasis is placed on aligning the work of the Mathematics Learning Area and the College's Numeracy Focus. The focus would be to facilitate planning and develop a team-oriented approach to serving the needs of staff, improving levels of expectation and aspiration.

The Mathematics Coach provides advice to the College Principal and Leadership Team regarding requirements and strategies for improvement. They exercise judgment and initiative in resolving problems identified or referred by staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed, and standards maintained. This is exercised under the broad policy of the College and under the supervision of the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for numeracy and mathematics support services
  • Foster collaborative relationships between departments and teams
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff members

Requirements:

This role requires an individual who possesses exceptional leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a strong background in mathematics education. Relevant experience working in a college setting and familiarity with educational technology platforms would be beneficial.
