**District Court Associate Opportunity**

This is a highly sought-after role for recent law graduates to gain valuable experience in a court environment.

The position provides a unique insight into the workings of the courts while building knowledge of court rules, processes and procedures.

As an Associate, you will have the chance to advance your legal research skills, expand your professional network, and prepare for the next stage of your legal career.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal and administrative support to a Judge of the District Court.
  • Liaise with the judiciary, legal profession, litigants, witnesses, court staff, and the public to ensure effective processing of court and chamber matters.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree is required.
  • Understanding of the courts system and administration of justice principles.
  • Personal maturity, resilience, confidence, and appropriate demeanor are necessary for performing functions in court.
  • Ability to use IT software and hardware proficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills are essential for expressing and presenting ideas clearly.
  • Confidentiality, discretion, and tact are required for dealing with sensitive court material.

Benefits and Conditions:

  • Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act 1993.
  • Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act 2009.
  • Some out-of-hours work may be required, extending beyond normal office hours.
  • You may need to undertake work-related travel, which could involve driving a motor vehicle.
  • Travel to attend country circuits is necessary and may require overnight absences for up to one month, with capacity to return to Adelaide on weekends.
  • Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that meets the requirements.
