Job Overview
The Family Court of Australia seeks to appoint a legal associate to support the work of its judges. Legal associates play a vital role in assisting judges with case management, research and preparing matters for hearing. This position requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with judges, lawyers and other court staff.
Key Responsibilities
The occupant of this position will be responsible for:
- Providing research assistance to judicial officers;
- Assisting with the preparation of matters for hearing, including drafting reports and written correspondence;
- Managing priorities, meeting deadlines and working effectively under pressure in a team environment;
- Developing strong relationships with judges, lawyers and other court staff to provide high-quality administrative support.
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Excellent research and analytical skills, including the ability to undertake online research and prepare complex reports;
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with judges, lawyers and other court staff;
- Knowledge of family law and the Australian legal system.
Eligibility
This position is open to Australian citizens who are able to obtain a security clearance. You will also need to have a valid police record check.
