Job Role Overview:

This position is centered around delivering high-quality legal representation and strategic advice to the government in complex civil and criminal matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of criminal law and be able to handle sensitive and potentially traumatic material with expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the State Government in Supreme Court hearings and other jurisdictions, focusing on community protection.
  • Work closely with colleagues to deliver effective legal solutions in high-stakes cases.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as counsel in contested court hearings, particularly in the Supreme or District Courts.
  • Familiarity with legislation such as the High-Risk Serious Offenders Act 2020 is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability to meet the demands of this challenging role.
