About the Role

Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking a dynamic and driven professional to join our Strategic Partnership team as a Manager of Industry Initiatives - Innovation and Grants. In this role, you will champion innovative opportunities and contribute to the financial sustainability of the institution by systematically identifying, assessing, and securing external funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Proposal Development: Develop high-quality grant proposals, submissions, applications, and supporting documents in accordance with grantor guidelines.
  • Innovation and Idea Generation: Support the exploration of innovative ideas from Academic Operations staff and implement processes to assess the viability and feasibility of these ideas.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Academic Operations staff and subject matter experts to gather necessary information and data for grant submissions.
  • Post-Award Management: Assume responsibility for the post-award management of grants, including reporting, compliance, and progress monitoring.
  • Program Evaluation: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of grant-funded programs and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Appropriate tertiary qualifications together with a well-developed understanding of the operating context of vocational education and higher education and the intrinsic link to industry.
  • Working with Children Check: Working with Children Check.
  • Grant Development Experience: Strong background in grant proposal development. Well-developed writing skills and the ability to write briefing papers, submissions, tenders, expressions of interests, responses or similar in response to commercial opportunities.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Well-developed communication and negotiation skills to be able to represent Melbourne Polytechnic in discussions with a diverse range of clients.
  • Funding Opportunities: The ability to stay up to date on changing funding opportunities from State and Federal Governments, as well as other relevant sources.
  • Post-Award Management Experience: Experience in overseeing the post-award management of grants. This includes managing reporting, compliance, and progress monitoring.
