Senior Policy Analyst Position Overview

This is a key role within the Strategic Engagement and Government Relations Team, supporting the company's portfolio of colleges, campuses, and offices. You will be part of a dedicated community extending beyond the classroom, encompassing a wide range of professions.

  • The successful candidate will develop policy positions in areas including tertiary education legislative framework, international education and student visa policy.
  • They will conduct research and analysis in support of evidence-based advocacy and represent the team at key sector and political forums.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Policy Analysis and Development

  • Analyse government policy to determine impacts on operations and objectives.
  • Assist with the development of strategic policy positions.
  • Develop advocacy plans for specific campaigns.

Relationship Building and Representation

  • Build and manage relationships of trust with Ministers, Ministerial staff, Opposition frontbenchers, Members of Parliament and Senators, public officials, peak bodies, third party advocates and other policy influencers.

Submission Preparation and Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Prepare submissions for government policy reviews, proposed legislation and other consultative processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to source content and make recommendations on positions on key policy debates.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a degree with substantial relevant experience or extensive experience and policy expertise in tertiary education or other complex regulatory environments. They will have a sound understanding and knowledge of policy, operations and emerging trends in the tertiary education sector in Australia.

Additional Responsibilities

The successful candidate will also work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to advance proposals to attract government support for key initiatives and policy measures.
