About the Role

This is a pivotal position within our organization where you will play a key role in upholding our STARR Core Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results. Your responsibilities will include facilitating compliance with legal obligations, developing environmental approval applications, and providing supervision and support to site operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely completion of monitoring and reporting activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate technical studies required to support environmental approval applications.
  • Prepare environmental approval applications to ensure operational continuity of sites, including Part V Prescribed Premise Licences and Works Approvals, Mining Proposals and Mine Closure Plans, Groundwater Licences, Native Vegetation Clearing Permits and Programmes of Works.
  • Interpret legislation, government guidelines, and approvals to guide site operational teams in maintaining compliance and adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Champion environmental approvals processes and support the implementation of the site's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Analyse, interpret and report on the results of environmental monitoring data and trends.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including Government regulators, neighbouring landholders and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead significant environmental incident investigations and follow-up on corrective actions with department managers.
About You
  • Minimum five years relevant experience in the mining/resources industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree majoring in an Environment related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Excellent understanding of environment, mining and heritage legislation in WA.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental impacts and controls associated with mining and processing operations.
  • Solid understanding of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) and auditing processes.
  • Experience with GIS, preferably ArcGIS Pro, and other database management programs such as Power BI and SharePoint.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, with ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic and outcome-focused environment.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
