Cyber Security and Capability Development Officer Role

This role plays a key part in helping our organisation meet its obligations under the Protective Security Policy Framework, the Australian Government Information Security Manual, and the Essential Eight.

Our ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering cyber-related initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement activities. This includes developing and maintaining training materials, onboarding resources, and internal communications.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, guidance notes, and knowledge articles for both cyber teams and end users.
  • Coordinate cyber awareness programs, staff briefings, and targeted training sessions.
  • Engage with business units to identify communication needs and support tool/process adoption.
  • Translate technical content into clear, accessible, and actionable materials.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering cyber security awareness, education, or uplift activities within an organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communications skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience supporting the development and maintenance of cyber security policies, operational documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Ability to support project activities, including planning, reporting, and facilitation of cyber security exercises or workshops.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications.
