About Us: The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority is a government agency responsible for the protection and conservation of the Great Barrier Reef.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled executive level professional to join our team as an EL1 Assistant Director Strategy. The successful candidate will provide strategic advice on a range of high-level issues, opportunities, and challenges related to the Great Barrier Reef and its management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and preparing complex high-quality advice and written material for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Providing high-level strategic advice on policy and strategy matters.
  • Developing and managing strategies for the delivery of the Authority's Corporate Plan and other strategic documents.
  • Managing the development, coordination, and implementation of key deliverables.
  • Consulting and partnering with stakeholders on Traditional Owner matters and other matters relevant to the Reef Authority.

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
  • Understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
  • Demonstrated experience in public sector administration and understanding of government policy and workings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in working on programs and projects relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Experience and understanding of natural and cultural resource management, Marine Park or protected area management, including legislative frameworks.
