HUBBED operates an extensive parcel collection point (PUDO) network of over 2,200 retail locations in Australia, providing retailers and logistics companies with click & collect and returns services through our 24/7 retail locations. This offers customers greater convenience, choice, and control in ecommerce delivery while providing retailers with additional delivery options.

Since its inception in 2014, HUBBED has expanded to markets including New Zealand and The Philippines. Future expansion plans include introducing the service in 5 new markets across Asia and the US.

We strive for seamless cohesion between retailers, logistics, and consumers, all while reducing carbon emissions to support a sustainable supply chain.

A full-time opportunity exists at our Sydney office in Balmain for a highly motivated Software Engineer who will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Application Development:
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for developing high-quality software solutions.
  • Be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, testing, debugging, and coding.
  • Continuously improve codebases by adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  • Feature Design and Implementation:
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand feature requirements, technical feasibility, and scope.
  • Translate user stories and business needs into practical solutions by designing new features that are both scalable and user-friendly.
  • Implement well-structured code that aligns with project goals and considers future maintenance and extension.
  • Code Review and Quality Assurance:
  • Participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality and consistency.
  • E nsure all code is well-documented and adheres to the team's coding standards.
  • Rigorously test code to minimize bugs and maximize stability, contributing to automated testing efforts where applicable.
  • Performance Optimisation:
  • Analyze and improve application performance, optimizing code and database queries to achieve faster load times and better efficiency.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance system responsiveness and scalability.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and resolve software bugs, system issues, and user-reported problems in a timely manner.
  • Use debugging tools and data to identify root causes, ensuring quick and effective fixes to minimize downtime and user impact.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to contribute to team transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about project progress, risks, and potential roadblocks.

We require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in backend application development using Java.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity.
  • Previous experience with AWS products such as: API Gateway, Cognito, Aurora Postgres, Fargate, SNS, SQS, Cloudfront, ECR.
  • Demonstrable experience of building highly available and secure services in AWS.
  • Experience with shell scripting, Python, and Javascript.
  • Experience with Unit Tests, BDDs.
  • Experience with Spunk or other monitoring tools.
  • Passionate and able to work in a team environment.
  • Self-starter and ambitious.
  • Worked in agile teams with focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000+
