About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead our global legal function. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of corporate governance, legal, and compliance projects from inception and influence the company's future product direction based on your expertise. Your primary focus will be on ensuring Coin Jar is best positioned for expansion into new markets while complying with existing legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead licensing initiatives from planning to submission, including AFSL, credit, e-money, payment services, and VASP registrations as it relates to company expansion.
  • Stay up-to-date with forthcoming changes to the legal and regulatory landscape and advise the business accordingly.
  • Lead company expansion initiatives related to legal, compliance, and corporate governance matters.
  • Support the company with capital raising initiatives, due diligence, and investor relations.
  • Provide advice on new product development initiatives and collaborate with external legal counsel where necessary.
  • Draft and amend customer-facing documents such as terms of service, privacy policies, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Represent the company through consultation with local regulators, engage with industry bodies, and key business partners.
  • Assist the company in ensuring compliance with its AML Compliance Programs by supporting the Compliance and Fin Crime Operations Teams.
  • Actively engage with the Board and wider team through regular reporting and sharing of information about the regulatory environment and the progress of internal legal and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently practicing as a lawyer in Australia with 5+ years of post-admission experience in a reputable financial services regulatory team or in-house at a regulated financial services business.
  • Demonstrable interest in digital currency and blockchain technology.
  • Experience working with relevant Australian regulators, including ASIC and AUSTRAC.
  • Experience owning and running projects from start to finish.
