About the Role:

As Regulatory Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for navigating complex regulatory landscapes, providing strategic insights on market rules, policy changes, and industry engagement. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with market developments and compliance obligations. This role is critical in influencing regulatory outcomes and positioning the business for success in the evolving energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies to support business objectives and market positioning.
  • Engage with government agencies, regulators, and industry bodies to influence energy policy and market frameworks.
  • Provide expert analysis of regulatory changes, identifying risks and opportunities for the business.
  • Lead responses to regulatory consultations, rule changes, and industry submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and emerging trends in energy policy and regulation.
  • Represent the company in industry working groups, forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Support business units with regulatory insights to drive commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Develop policy recommendations and advocacy strategies to advance industry interests.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting obligations and ensure adherence to market rules and compliance frameworks.
  • Assess the impact of energy reforms and advise executive leadership on regulatory risks and strategies.
  • Work with legal and commercial teams to interpret regulatory requirements and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulators, government officials, and industry peers.
  • Drive continuous improvement in regulatory processes, enhancing the organisation's market adaptability and resilience.
Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in regulatory affairs, policy development, or market strategy within the energy sector.
  • Deep understanding of Australian energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and industry dynamics.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience influencing regulatory and government bodies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic approach to policy and regulation.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with energy regulators, market operators, or industry associations.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, economics, public policy, or a related field.
