About the Role

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to fill the position of Auxiliary Firefighter. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in responding to emergency incidents and promoting community safety and emergency preparedness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team
  • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education activities
  • Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses
  • Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
  • Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities
  • Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required

Requirements and Selection Criteria

  • Mandatory Requirements
    • Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies
    • Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
    • Australian Permanent Resident Status
    • Manual C Class driver's licence
  • Assessment on leadership and management behavioural competencies

Desirable Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience in firefighting or emergency services
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Willingness to commit to ongoing training and development
