Job Description

As a communications specialist, you will be responsible for protecting and enhancing the brand, reputation, and relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, media, and the community.

This role provides strategic communications advice, leads proactive public relations, manages issues and crisis communications, and ensures a strong voice across all audiences.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement, issue management, and project coordination.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing high-level communications materials that are clear, persuasive, and aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Leading proactive media relations, including cultivating relationships with journalists, briefing media, and identifying opportunities for positive coverage.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for media enquiries and preparing timely, accurate responses.
  • Developing and implementing issues management strategies, including preparation of Q&A's, holding statements, and coordinated responses to reputational risks.
  • Supporting the preparation of briefing material for senior leadership and ministers.
