Key Role: Senior Distribution Design Engineer

About the Job

This role is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, analysis, and implementation of power distribution systems for utilities. The successful candidate will be a senior engineer with extensive technical knowledge of distribution networks, including 11kV, 22kV, and 66kV overhead and underground lines.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop detailed engineering plans, including system layouts, equipment selection, and electrical design calculations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and feasibility studies to optimise power distribution systems and enhance performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in power distribution systems.
  • Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges, ensuring timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
Required Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of distribution networks.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Overhead Line Design experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD, NEARA, and/or N'Poles.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyse complex technical issues.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
