Clinical Nurse Educators occupy a pivotal position in fostering the development of clinical nursing expertise and promoting advanced standards of practice within recovery-focused Mental Health Nursing.
The Clinical Nurse Educator is a senior Registered Psychiatric Nurse based on an inpatient unit, responsible for providing sound clinical leadership and serving as a role model for all clinical staff members.
- Develop and implement tailored clinical teaching frameworks and plans for each unit under their area of responsibility.
- Provide expert consultancy services regarding specialist programs within the mental health inpatient unit.
- Deliver and facilitate comprehensive in-service education, graduate-level programs, postgraduate programs, RN/EN transition programs, undergraduate programs, and continuing education programs for all nurses at the unit level.
- Registration as a registered nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus a postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
- A minimum of five years of post-registration experience working in various public acute mental health settings.
