About the Role
The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is seeking an exceptional Art Collections Manager to lead its fine art and decorative art collections through curation, exhibition development, and research. This prestigious role offers a unique opportunity to work with a world-class collection, promoting TMAG as a centre of excellence in the art community.
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per annum
About the Team
You will be part of a small team environment, managing a prestigious collection at TMAG. As the manager of a significant cultural institution, you will exercise professional judgement, providing expert advice and services that contribute to knowledge of art at a departmental, national, and international level.
Main Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Lead the management of the art collections, including collection documentation, collection care, research, digitisation, storage, and acquisitions.
- Exhibition Development: Curate, project manage, and support exhibitions and other public programs, promoting TMAG and the collection.
- Research and Knowledge: Undertake provenance and due diligence research for proposed acquisitions and loans, ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and legislative framework and policy standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain sound working relationships with donors, potential donors, artists, curators, academics, and other stakeholders who benefit TMAG and its collections.
