Job Overview

The Senior Corporate Lawyer is responsible for providing high-level legal services and guidance to the business unit.

This role involves working closely with diverse stakeholders, including sales teams, product development teams, and digital adoption initiatives.

The successful candidate will assist in drafting complex commercial agreements and act as a key advisor on regulatory matters and transactions.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Melbourne or Sydney.

  • Support the operation of the Customer Markets Legal Team.
  • Provide strategic legal advice for business matters, including sales campaigns, product development, and transformation projects.
  • Draft and negotiate complex contracts.
  • Act as a key advisor on transactional work, regulatory investigations, and other initiatives.
  • Develop training programs and provide guidance to business teams on compliance and innovation.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and identify areas for improvement within the Legal Team.
  • Provide expert advice on corporate and commercial law and regulatory aspects of various transactions.
  • Maintain independence and influence to protect the company's legal position.
  • Manage the procurement of external legal advice where required.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Corporate Lawyer will be responsible for:

  1. SUPPORTING THE OPERATION OF THE CUSTOMER MARKETS LEGAL TEAM BY PROVIDING STRATEGIC LEGAL ADVICE AND GUIDANCE.
  2. PROVIDING EXPERT LEGAL ADVICE ON CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL LAW AND REGULATORY ASPECTS OF VARIOUS TRANSACTIONS.
  3. BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS AND IDENTIFYING AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT WITHIN THE LEGAL TEAM.
