About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Development Manager to lead our capacity deployment team and deliver systems and software to scale capacity and enable AWS's network connectivity experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of highly qualified network, system, and software development engineers to automate and optimize capacity scaling across the backbone, fiber, and optical line systems.
  • Be responsible for end-to-end ownership of software systems, including owning the software vision and roadmap across the capacity engineering team, aligning to best practices, business, and customer requirements.
  • Grow and manage software and network development engineers responsible for developing and maintaining software.
  • Be a technical and solution-oriented leader managing according to agile software development lifecycle methodologies, delivering high-quality software and a development process that allows for rapid iterations.
  • Show business and technical judgment to accelerate time to market of releases, minimizing technical debt while incrementally moving services towards the vision.
  • Ensure that software and tooling delivered are aligned with capacity deployment operations with the ability to execute at scale.
  • Continuously promote safe delivery through change control and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Focus and manage services using data, metrics, and dashboarding techniques.
  • Collaborate with internal customers, partner teams, and other stakeholders on deliveries and initiatives.
