Job Description:

The Royal Children’s Hospital is a leading paediatric and adolescent health service that provides tertiary and quaternary care to children from Melbourne, Victoria, and beyond. Our hospital has over 6,000 staff members and provides a wide range of health services, including specialist clinic appointments, emergency department presentations, and elective surgeries.

As part of the Rehabilitation Department, we are seeking a Clinical Psychologist (Grade 3) to provide specialist inpatient and ambulatory rehabilitation services to children and young people with acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, chronic fatigue syndrome, functional neurological disorders, and other neurological conditions.

  • Provide goal-focused, innovative care to children and families who require interdisciplinary rehabilitation.
  • Supervise two part-time Grade 2 psychologists and contribute to the development of evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to achieve best-practice outcomes for patients.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Clinical Psychologists at The Royal Children’s Hospital must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A strong background in clinical psychology, including experience working with children and young people with complex needs, is essential.

Applicants must hold a relevant degree in psychology or a related field and be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. A postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology or a related area is highly desirable.

A current Victorian driver's license and the ability to travel to various locations within the hospital and across metropolitan Melbourne are also required.
