Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Aboriginal Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Counsellor to join our team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a passionate professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counselling services to adults, young people, and children who have experienced trauma, with a focus on culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practice. This will involve assessing individual needs, developing tailored care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

  • Providing individual and group counselling sessions to clients with diverse backgrounds and experiences;
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify client needs and develop targeted care plans;
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery and effective outcomes;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local community organizations and services to enhance service access and coordination;
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in trauma-informed care and cultural competency.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A degree in social work or psychology, with a minimum of three years of experience in a related field;
  • Full AHPRA registration (for psychologists) or eligibility for Australian Association of Social Workers membership;
  • Proven experience working with adults, young people, and children who have experienced trauma, including domestic violence and sexual assault;
  • Strong understanding of the key health issues affecting Aboriginal communities and the ability to provide culturally sensitive care;
  • Valid NSW driver's license and ability to travel as required.
