We are seeking a dedicated DFSV Trauma Counsellor to join our client's growing team, following an increase in client demand. Working closely with the Head of Programs, you will provide trauma-informed support to individuals and families impacted by domestic, family, and sexual violence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build effective partnerships with external services and government agencies to support primary health care, recovery, and healing in the DFSV sector.
  • Deliver client-centred, trauma-informed assessments and therapeutic interventions to individuals and families affected by DFSV.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including program managers and lived experience participants, to advocate for women impacted by DFSV.
  • Contribute to policy development, service planning, and evaluation within the organisation.
  • Support the development of systems and protocols across health and welfare sectors to ensure best practice intervention and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records in accordance with organisational policies and legal obligations.
  • Engage in regular clinical and administrative supervision, as well as internal reflective practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and professional requirements, including maintaining current registration and contributing to the Centre's advocacy efforts.

Selection Criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling, with eligibility or membership of a professional association.
  • Experience in providing therapeutic intervention to survivors of DFSV, with a commitment to trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to provide culturally responsive counseling, particularly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, with an understanding of intergenerational trauma.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

Essential Criteria:
  • Clear National Criminal History Check.
