
Career Medical Officer

Deliver high-quality patient care in a supportive Emergency Department environment. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages.
- Evaluate and manage complex clinical cases under supervision or independently as per level of competence.
- Participate in a seven-day roster, including day, evening, and night shifts.
- Function as Night In Charge / Lead Registrar when working nights.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering emergency care to the population of the ISLHD in accordance with NSW Medical Board Ethics and Standards and ISLHD Emergency Services Program objectives.
- Providing effective medical services to patients under supervision and independently, while developing expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment.
- Contributing to team activities, including participating in team meetings and decision-making processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Extensive clinical experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Advanced Resuscitation Skills for Adult and Paediatric Emergency medicine, including Rapid Sequence Endotracheal Intubation and familiarity with Invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Applicants must be certified as compliant with Occupational Assessment, Screening, and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (nsw.gov.au) before employment can commence. Successful applicants will also be required to provide certified documentation of vaccination history and pathology as part of their recruitment documentation.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
