Medical Officer Job DescriptionAbout the Role

You will be responsible for delivering primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation and Defence policies.

This involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team towards achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty ensuring they are fit for operational service
  • Providing medical technical advice to senior officers and other healthcare professionals on matters related to patient care and health outcomes
  • Delivering high-quality medical services in an outpatient or inpatient setting within a ward environment
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour with a strong commitment to upholding professional standards
  • Current unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners FRACGP or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine FACRRM or Vocational Registration
  • Minimum of 2 years full-time post-graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development CPD activities to maintain skills and knowledge
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR certification
