
Community Development Specialist

The role of Family Support Professional involves working with families to empower them and help them overcome challenges. This will involve outreach-based engagement, building relationships with families in their homes, and facilitating partnerships that lead to positive change.
Duties include:
- Developing parenting skills and knowledge to promote healthy child rearing.
- Facilitating the implementation of structured family routines that improve household management, healthy eating, and quality time.
- Improving parental management of stress and personal wellbeing, including coordinating access to mental health services.
- Ensuring children meet developmental milestones by facilitating family access to medical services and allied health supports.
- Improving financial stability through employment and/or training opportunities.
- Enhancing school attendance and educational engagement for parents.
- Supporting enrolment in Kindergarten and early years playgroups.
- Safeguarding family well-being.
- Stabilising housing and maintaining tenancies.
- Reducing substance misuse.
- Promoting overall family health through preventative assessments and dental check-ups.

Requirements
A current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field, or Diploma in Community Services, Social Work or related field, with 4-5 years' experience in family support, child protection or youth support, and at least 3 years in a case management role.
Ability to build client agency, facilitate change through empowerment, while discouraging dependence on supports.
Knowledge of behaviour change interventions, whole-of-family coordination, and multiple service delivery for holistic care.
Ability to travel across the region, hold a drivers' licence, and work outside regular business hours if required.
