The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide students with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences, supporting them to identify and pursue individual transitions to adulthood, employment, further education, and training, as well as social connectedness.

About the Role

Ipswich Flexible School is seeking an energetic and creative individual to join an existing team.

This is a continuing, full-time position, commencing as soon as negotiated. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  1. Planning, preparing, and delivering the Australian curriculum with a focus on literacy and numeracy skills for students with a history of disengagement from schooling, typically working at an upper primary or middle school level.
  2. Contributing to the development and implementation of the school's objectives and planning.
  3. Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.
  4. Working alongside an expert adventure-based learning coordinator to deliver group programs.
  5. Focusing on integrated learning with an emphasis on transferable skills from the Human Capabilities Framework.
  6. Contributing to accountability processes, including reporting, individual personal learning plans, and requirements for NCCD.
  7. Working in and as part of a multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary supportive learning team.
  8. Teaching in a small class group.
About You

We are looking for an applicant with:

  1. A Bachelor of Education or similar, and current QCT registration.
  2. A genuine interest and experience in developing and implementing various learning choices to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students, supporting positive educational and social outcomes.
  3. Highly developed interpersonal skills in relating to work colleagues, students, and parents in a cross-cultural environment, particularly in building relationships with students at risk.
  4. Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Commitment to participate in critical reflection under the principles of Respect, Safe and Legal, Honesty, and Participation to resolve conflicts, negotiate learning, recognize rights, responsibilities, and consequences.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working within QCAA/QCEC/EREA requirements, accountabilities, and processes.
  7. A current Queensland Driver's Licence.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 CERTIFICATE).
  • Experience teaching QCAA Short Courses and Applied Subjects, VET, or in a flexible learning environment.
  • Skills, training, and qualifications in Trauma Informed Practice.
  • Outdoor Education experience and qualifications.
  • Design Technology.
