Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pathology Collector to join our team. As a Hospital Pathology Collector, you will be working in a dynamic environment where you will be reporting to the Hospital Collector Lead and working in a team of 2-6 across all wards including paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation.

You will be responsible for collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across different wards & areas including paediatrics, difficult bleeds and AGB's with care and attention. Your exceptional communication and relationship building skills will be used to liaise with doctors, nurses and patients to understand their needs and requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising & building effective relationships with a range of different stakeholders within the hospital including doctors, nurses and patients
  • Advanced Pathology Collection - Collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across different wards & areas including paediatrics, difficult bleeds and AGB's with care and attention
  • Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

- A demonstrated experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a nursing background

- Excellent liaison and communication skills, with a high level of empathy & a patient centred approach

- You are organised, with high attention to detail

- You hold a working with Children's Check or be willing to obtain one

- You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work
