You will engage collaboratively across various departments to foster a culture of risk awareness and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
You will collaborate closely with various business units as a subject matter expert in Operational Risk and Resilience.
The role encompasses, but is not limited to:
Operational Risk Oversight
- Deliver independent oversight and challenge to the operational risk management initiatives.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the risk management framework through comprehensive reviews of risk assessments, incidents, and root cause analyses.
- Conduct independent risk and control assessments, alongside scenario analyses to gauge potential business impacts.
- Monitor and report on critical risk indicators, issues, incidents, metrics, and emerging threats.
- Review and critique business impact assessments, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies developed by the organization.
- Support the monitoring and reporting of resilience testing and simulations, ensuring thorough execution and review.
- Collaborate across the organization to bolster resilience and provide oversight and challenge to resilience initiatives.
- Promote a culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.
- Serve as a primary contact for operational risk-related inquiries and issues from the second line of defence perspective.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging risks.
- Implement initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance the efficacy of the second line of defence.
- Participate in risk management projects and initiatives.
- Support the development and monitoring of the divisional risk profile.
Required Experience
- Minimum of three years in Financial Services Operational Risk and Resilience management.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and requirements within the financial services sector, alongside industry best practices in operational risk and resilience management.
- In-depth knowledge of operational risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Familiarity with business continuity planning, resilience management, and oversight obligations.
- Insight into key elements of management and executive committee risk reporting for informed decision-making.
- Awareness of relevant Financial Services sector standards, including legislation, regulation, and prudential standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CRM, CISA, CRISC, CBCP, or equivalent are preferred.
