Social Model Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Model Therapist to join our team at Everyday Independence in Newcastle. As a Developmental Educator, you will play a crucial role in breaking down barriers for individuals with disabilities and ensuring they achieve the best possible outcomes for a significantly improved quality of life.
About the Role- Salary: $83,582 – $100,342 per annum, including annual leave loading and superannuation
- Location: Newcastle
In this role, you will provide person-centered support and planning for individuals with disabilities, their families, and support teams. You will build strong relationships to help them envision a life full of positive experiences and opportunities for people of all ages.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct initial assessments using our LEAD evidence-based assessment tool
- Liaise with interdisciplinary teams to wrap the right supports around participants and their families
- Support individuals in their everyday environments, such as home, work, school, or community
- Capacity build their support teams to provide capable environments
- Participate in peer group supervision/mentoring and professional learning to grow expertise and skills
- Attend weekly team meetings and share stories of impact
- Complete reflective practice to develop evidence-based plans
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Disability (or equivalent)
- Eligibility to be a member of DEAI (membership required upon commencement)
- Suitability assessment and Behaviour Support Practitioner status by NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (evidence of letter required)
- Strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy
- Empathy and understanding, with an open and non-judgmental approach
- Drive to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives
- NID Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check
