Job Title: Special Education Teacher

This is a permanent full-time teaching position at an educational institution in New South Wales, Australia.

The school has 649 students supported by 97 teaching and non-teaching staff. The key initiatives include a strong focus on literacy and trauma-informed practice for academic engagement and wellbeing.

The successful applicant will have approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with an emotional disturbance and autism.

  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Wellbeing practices with demonstrated ability to utilise data to plan for the effective individualised support of student wellbeing and learning programs
  • Demonstrated ability to engage disengaged students from trauma backgrounds utilising a range of strategies that lead to student growth
  • Demonstrated ability to implement the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and create meaningful change/improvement for Aboriginal students across the school
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse student needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor of Education or related field
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with an emotional disturbance and autism
