About the Role

Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Specialist to join our team at our South Brisbane campus. This is a full-time position on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality adult eye care services to patients, including outpatient clinics, operating theatre, clinical administration, and research time.
  • Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at a specialist level, in accordance with the policies, practices, and values of Mater Misericordiae Ltd.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement activities, including clinical audits, risk management, and research.
  • Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and undertake regular assessment and performance review.
  • Role model professionalism, confidentiality, patient dignity, effective communication, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Actively participate in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, medical students, and other team members.
  • Contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model appropriate behaviour.
  • Work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and/or be on-call, as required.
  • Comply with human resource management issues, including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A MBBS or equivalent level medical qualification, recognised by the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current registration with/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical practitioner.
  • Applicants must provide documentary evidence of compliance, including certified copies of qualifications held, current registration certificates, and evidence of relevant immunisations.
  • A final year RANZCO trainee (post-exam) requiring further experience or training in a specialty or subspecialty of Ophthalmology, or an overseas candidate with equivalent qualifications and experience.
