Job Description: Senior Legal Counsel

We are excited to offer a rare opportunity for a highly driven Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic in-house legal team. Based in our Brisbane CBD office and reporting to the General Counsel, this senior role provides expert legal guidance in a fast-paced, national environment. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional with property or hospitality experience, looking to advance their career with a global hotel group.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing Comprehensive Legal Advice: Offer expert advice, recommendations, and support to key internal stakeholders, including the Owners Department, Property Division, Leadership Team, Executive Committee, General Counsel, and Commercial Departments.
  • Managing Legal Matters: Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documentation.
  • Staying Informed: Keep the General Counsel fully informed of significant legal or compliance issues arising from ongoing work.
  • Drafting and Negotiating Agreements: Draft, negotiate, and review corporate, sponsorship, software-related, and other commercial agreements, including hotel management and operational contracts.
  • Supporting the Legal Team: Assist in managing agreements related to the acquisition or divestment of hotels, including purchase and sale agreements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law or Law/Commerce.
  • Admission to practice as a solicitor in Queensland.
  • At least 10 years of post-admission experience, with demonstrated expertise in Property Law or Hotel Law highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, managers, staff, external counsel, and regulatory bodies in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and exceptional phone and computer skills.
