About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Legal Counsel to join our Governance, Legal and Risk Services Department. As a Senior In-House Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing strategic, practical, and outcome-focused legal advice and analysis across all areas of the law to support the broader organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a collaborative and highly skilled Legal services team, providing legal advice and services across a broad range of legal disciplines. You will have responsibility for the management of your own files, which may include legal interpretation and application of the CFA Act and Regulations, advising on commercial and inter-governmental matters, property licences and leases, litigation claims, and providing advice on employment and industrial matters.

You will receive support and mentorship from General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, working collaboratively to achieve strategic objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your generalist experience within a fast-paced, rapidly changing complex emergency service organisation.

About You

We are looking for an admitted Australian lawyer with an unrestricted Victorian practising certificate. You will have demonstrated experience in applying legal principles to a wide range of issues across various legal disciplines, including exceptional interpersonal skills and customer-centric approach.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of writing high-quality, well-researched, and concise advices, reports, briefs, and correspondence. Your proven experience in providing strategic legal advice, including the interpretation and application of legislation in relation to matters arising within a large and complex environment, is essential for success in this role.
