**Hospital Food Service Assistant Role**

We are seeking an experienced Hospital Food Service Assistant to join our team at Long Bay Correctional Facility in Malabar, Sydney.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and serving meals to patients. They will also be involved in cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area, as well as operating commercial dishwashers to a high standard.

This is a casual position, working on an irregular roster including days, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food preparation and cooking tasks under the direction of the Site Manager;
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen area, ensuring it meets health and safety standards;
  • Operate commercial dishwashers to a high standard;
  • Assist with general kitchen duties, including stock rotation and stock control;
  • Provide a warm, friendly, and welcoming service to customers;

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or within a hospital or hospitality setting;
  • Food preparation skills, with knowledge of food allergens;
  • Great communication and teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment;
  • National Police Check (NPC) or willingness to obtain one;
  • COVID-19 immunisation or willingness to undertake this;
  • Flu shot for 2024 or willingness to undertake this;
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain this;
