Job Description

The role of a professional standards and policy officer involves supporting the development and review of professional standards, guidelines, and policies through research, analysis, drafting documents, and coordinating input from committees and stakeholders.

This includes researching and drafting standards, guidelines, policies, and reports, as well as preparing submissions, briefing papers, agendas, and minutes.

Additionally, the role requires supporting consultation processes by gathering and collating feedback, monitoring changes in surgical practice, health policy, and professional standards, and coordinating projects to meet agreed timelines and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and draft professional standards, guidelines, policies, and reports
  • Prepare submissions, briefing papers, agendas, and minutes
  • Support consultation processes and gather feedback
  • Monitor changes in surgical practice, health policy, and professional standards
  • Coordinate projects to meet agreed timelines and reporting needs
Requirements
  • A qualification in public policy, law, political science, or a related field
  • Experience in policy, research, or advisory work, particularly in health, education, or membership organisations
  • Knowledge of standards development and governance processes
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Skills in organising committee work and engaging with stakeholders
Work Arrangements

This is a full-time ongoing role that can be based out of one of our offices. A flexible hybrid working arrangement with 1-2 days per week in the office is available.
