Leadership Role

The Clinical Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of resources within the ICU, ensuring patient needs and service demands are met with excellence.

The role fosters collaboration and consumer engagement in care delivery and supports a safe, empowering work environment for staff development.

This leadership position requires effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to lead nursing/midwifery staff in a critical care environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing effective clinical practices and policies
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Motivating and developing nursing/midwifery staff through coaching and mentoring

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Registered Nurse Division 1
  • Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Nurse Unit Manager – Level 1 or Acting Clinical Nurse Unit Manager – Level 1 / Team Leader in a critical care environment
  • Postgraduate nursing qualifications in management, or working towards same
