Therapeutic Residential Care Worker Job Summary
The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community. As a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker, you will engage with children and young people to develop a nurturing relationship and promote healing.
About This Role
This role requires someone who understands and is committed to the values that underpin our vision and purpose. You should have a minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or be prepared to undertake such study as part of the employment agreement. Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures are essential, along with a commitment to continually build knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a nurturing relationship with children and young people.
Assist each child to deal with their trauma-based responses in a way that promotes healing, emotional growth, and development of positive attitudes and life skills.
Participate pro-actively and openly in the therapeutic team, including giving and receiving feedback in a constructive and respectful manner.
Provide therapeutic parenting to children who have been traumatised.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A valid Police Check.
- A Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain).
- A Victorian Driver Licence.
- Current COVID-19 vaccination (strongly recommended).
