Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise

We are seeking a Senior Mine Closure Expert to join our Oceania team. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to support the delivery of our leading mine closure consulting services through an integrated life of mine approach.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Collate and assist in preparation of technical documentation, proposals, and reports in the area of technical discipline.
  2. Provide peer and technical review of reports developed by others.
  3. Apply an understanding of environmental and engineering principles to progress and lead the delivery of new approaches to solve basic problems.
  4. Assist in development of closure costings, cost estimation, and closure scheduling.
  5. Project management, client, and contractor liaison.

Senior Mentorship and Guidance

  1. Provide leadership and strategic direction within integrated mine closure projects.
  2. Actively assist in the development of conceptual models in support of mine waste storage facility closure plan development.
  3. Supervise the simulation of geochemical, hydrologic, and hydrogeologic conditions for a given model domain developed through robust conceptual model analysis.

Client Relationship Management and Project Communication

  1. Prepare for and hold workshops and risk assessments with a variety of stakeholders and external project support.
  2. Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise.
  3. Develop strong relationships with clients, foster existing client relationships, and leverage client relationships to generate new leads and opportunities or initiate referrals.

Requirements

  2. Experience preparing mining project approval applications with solid working knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks.
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills, and experience with technical report writing, technical data and design review, and technical report peer review.
  4. Demonstrated ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise.
  5. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (geo-technical, environmental, geo-environmental, mining) or Science (geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, chemistry) or similar.
  6. Experience in mine closure and remediation either within Oceania or overseas.
  7. Mining, or client-side experience is considered an asset (but is not required).
  8. Ability and willingness to coordinate with staff and clients in different time zones.
  9. Experience using relevant software packages including Drains, Siberia, Golden Surfer, Wepp, Deswik, Geostudio, Goldsim etc is considered an asset.
  10. Experience building and leading a team is considered an asset.
