Vocational Education Director

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing engaging vocational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of a cohesive team to drive the success of the vocational major program.
  • Ensure alignment of the curriculum with VCAA requirements and student needs, fostering a culture of excellence and academic rigor.
  • Oversee the curriculum implementation across the vocational team as a key leader area (KLA) leader, driving consistency and quality in teaching practices.
  • Develop and maintain individual learning plans for students where required, promoting personalized learning and student growth.
  • Coordinate the selection process for student entry into the vocational program, ensuring suitability and aptitude for the course.

A strong emphasis will be placed on working closely with vocational teachers to create and refine integrated learning materials, projects, and unit plans. This includes overseeing high-quality assessment practices aligned with vocational learning outcomes and monitoring progressive assessment and reporting in line with school and VCAA expectations.

Student Support and Case Management:
  • Take a proactive role in supporting student wellbeing and engagement through case management and transition planning, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Conduct enrolment suitability interviews and liaise with staff to ensure students are suited to the program, promoting student success and well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with Sub-School Leaders, the Wellbeing Team, and Careers Advisor to support students at risk, providing a comprehensive support network.
  • Provide or coordinate referrals for additional student support services as needed, prioritizing student welfare and academic progress.
  • Maintain strong communication with students and families throughout their time in the program, ensuring transparency and open dialogue.
Partnerships and Collaboration:
  • Liaise with the Careers Advisor to provide targeted support for students at risk, promoting student success and well-being.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure students are suited to the program, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
