About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our team at Hydro Tasmania. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transmission line structures that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop transmission line structures, including lattice towers, poles, and substations, using computer-aided design (CAD) software and industry-standard design packages.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of structural loads and stresses to ensure the integrity and safety of transmission line structures.
  • Develop and implement design solutions that meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and technicians, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, advancements, and best practices in transmission line design and engineering.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and acceptable for admission as a professional engineer to Engineers Australia (or equivalent professional body).
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural design work, with a particular emphasis on transmission line and substation structural design.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 7000, AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3995, and AS 1170.
  • Sound experience in the use of computer design packages, such as PLS Tower and PLS Pole.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
