Environmental Coordinator

The Local Landcare Coordinator is a key role in supporting and empowering local community volunteer Landcare groups in Wollongong, Kiama, and Shellharbour local council areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide support to and assist with coordination of local community volunteer Landcare groups.
- Work with Landcare groups, committees, and community organisations to achieve their goals.
- Increase community engagement and participation in Landcare activities.
- Improve financial sustainability and long-term viability of Landcare groups.
- Partner with Local Land Services and other Government agencies to deliver on target outcomes.
- Local Landcare group and network support and advocacy.
- Community liaison and information supply.
- Stimulate local community engagement and participation in Landcare.
- Provide support to groups, networks, and landholders to participate in natural resource management activities.
- Site visits and assistance in planning for groups and projects.
- Rostering and coordination of volunteers and members groups.
- Facilitating workshops, meetings, and educational events.
The position reports to the Landcare Illawarra executive within the South East Landcare network.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A strong interest in and commitment to local environmental and agricultural land management issues.
- A proactive and community-minded attitude.
- Sound understanding of natural resource management issues in the region.
- Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Proven expertise in project planning, management, record keeping, and report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and develop community groups.
- Proven ability to work and build relationships with Government agencies, community groups, and landholders.
