Marine Science/Geospatial Research Fellow

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Science/Geospatial Research Fellow to join our academic division. The successful candidate will contribute to the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP), Rubble Stabilisation Subprogram.

The position is a hybrid role, offering the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with scientists and engineers from various institutions.

About the Role:

This research fellow position focuses on understanding fundamental chemical and physical processes that operate across Earth's physical spheres. Our core research involves investigating how these physical spheres have evolved over Earth's history and observing interactions between each sphere and all life through geospatial science.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Earth observation
  • Natural resources
  • Atmospheric composition and change
  • Air quality and pollution
  • Natural hazards
  • Environmental science challenges (including reef restoration and energy)
  • Future planetary habitability

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A doctoral qualification in oceanography, marine science or geospatial science with an emphasis on marine science.
  • Demonstrated experience in accessing, processing and analysing large oceanographic and meteorology data sets.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R or Matlab.
  • Expertise in geospatial information science and cartography.
  • Ability to report on and publish research outcomes in top journals.
